		<description>Personally, I think there could definitely be some improvements to the NYT graphic.  I have been seeing a proliferation of Tufte and Few citings, probably because they are and have been successful.  I have read both Tufte&#039;s and Few&#039;s books.  I think they are excellent and should serve as guidelines or thought-provoking works.  There are no rules etched in stone when it comes to Data Visuaization.  However, there are best practices and optimal designs for certain types of data.  I too am a firm believer that pies should be left to the kitchen!

In my opinion, the biggest missing &quot;piece to the puzzle&quot; is Eye-Appeal!  Many times optimal data-ink graphics lose the appeal.</description>
